My summer project is complete! Over the last 4 years, I have had the privilege to serve in a role that allowed me to research, study, and present on current scientifically based best practices in education to meet the needs of our current generation of learners. I have had the opportunity to deliver this content dozens of times in my state and nationally, and every time I finish speaking on this topic, I am approached and asked if I have turned this into a book. Well..... here it is! This has been a labor of love, passion, and heart, and I am proud that it is finally finished. Below is a little more about what this book includes. It is available now on Amazon (link is on my page here: https://realprincipaltalk.podia.com/products

About the Book:

Our educational system is at a critical juncture, with century-old practices failing to meet the evolving needs of students and families, leading to unprecedented staff departures, alarming absenteeism, and intense student behavior. The COVID-19 pandemic further highlighted existing mental health and behavioral challenges, pushing educators to rethink school structures beyond academics. In "Adapting to Thrive," Dr. Kelli Smith presents a compelling case, supported by scientific evidence, for why and how schools must evolve. Drawing from over thirty years of experience in diverse educational settings, Dr. Smith charts a path toward a new landscape of schooling where students can truly grow and thrive academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally. This book offers practical strategies for systemic transformation, advocating for supportive environments, developmental relationships, and the integration of knowledge, skills, and mindsets within the academic content. "Adapting to Thrive" is more than a book; it's a testament to dedicated leadership and a practical guide for educators, administrators, and policymakers committed to empowering every student and school. It's time to embrace science and adapt our approach to meet the needs of this new generation of learners.
